Welcome to A Handcrafted Home and my first blog post ever! Thank you for sharing this special day with me and I hope you will truly enjoy everything you'll read and discover here.
I decided to write my first post all about spray painting. Since my husband and I purchased our 1950's bungalow a little over a year ago, I have used spray paint to repurpose old items in our home and it has become one of the most useful tools in my decorating arsenal. Spray paint can be used to transform almost any item and it's an inexpensive solution to your decorating needs. In the image above, fresh colors were used to give new life to an old garden gnome, owl statue and camera. In the image below, tin cans have been repurposed as vases after receiving a simple coat of spray paint.
The image below is a picture from my home. I used orange paint to spray this dog statue that I purchased at Kohl's on clearance and now he lives on my coffee table.
Spray Painting Tips:
1. Start with a clean surface.
2. Almost any material can be sprayed, test the paint on a small inconspicuous area before painting the whole item.
3. If you are spraying wood, sand any rough areas to make smooth.
4. I recommend using Rustoleum paint. In my experience, it goes on evenly and covers really well.
5. Spray your items in a well ventilated area.
6. Don't be afraid of bold colors to add color to your home.
