On Saturday we headed down to Costa Mesa to visit the OC Mart Mix. I decided to check it out after hearing that it houses several independent shop owners all under one roof. When we arrived, I was impressed with the overall design and layout of the building. Each of the shops are in their own enclosed store front and have several large sliding glass doors that allow the walls to open so shoppers can enter the shopping spaces.
All of the shops are unique, independent and offer several wonderful products for sale including: candy, soaps, furniture, antiques, flowers and specialty papers. Portolla Coffee Lab is a huge coffee bar located in the center of the building featuring latte artists serving a variety of specialty drinks. Additionally there are several seating areas located through out the building for people to lounge or work. The OC Mart Mix offers a truly revolutionary shopping experience and I can only hope that many more shopping centers like this will emerge to support independent artists.
